Frequently Asked Questions

What is sd9.in?

sd9.in is a free URL shortener. Paste a long HTTP or HTTPS address and get a short link you can copy, open, share, or turn into a QR code.

Do I need an account to shorten a URL?

No. Temporary short links work without signing in. Permanent links, a dashboard, and analytics require a verified account.

How long do temporary short links last?

You can expire a temporary link after 10 minutes, 1 hour, 24 hours, 1 week, 1 month, 3 months (default), or 6 months.

Can I create a custom short URL?

Yes. Choose an alias of 3–32 letters, numbers, dashes, or underscores if it is not reserved or already taken.

Can I shorten many URLs at once?

Yes. Use Bulk Shorten and paste up to 20 HTTP or HTTPS links, one per line. Spaces and commas also work.

What happens when a short link expires or is deleted?

It stops redirecting immediately. Visitors see an expired, blocked, or not-found page instead of the destination. Deleting your own link cannot be undone.

What URLs are blocked?

Non-HTTP(S) URLs, localhost, private or internal IPs, and some obviously risky patterns. This is basic protection, not a complete malware scanner.

How do analytics work?

Each click stores estimated device, browser, OS, referrer, and continent from the visitor IP. Unique visitors are approximate. Obvious bots are skipped when possible.

Do I have to verify my email?

Yes for email sign-up. We send a confirmation link. Google accounts are treated as verified. You cannot sign in or create permanent links until the email is confirmed.

How do I report a bad link?

Use the Abuse Report page. Admins can disable, restore, or mark links as spam or malicious.
